Structure of economy
The City of Schwedt/Oder is the economic centre of Uckermark and is among to the big industrial sites in Germany. Mineral oil processing and the paper industry represent the industrial pillars of Schwedt´s economy.

Mineral oil processing industry
In 1991 the privatization of the oil processing and chemistry plant – developed in the 1960s up to the 1980s – resulted in the Petrochemie und Kraftstoffe AG, 1996 into the PCK Raffinerie GmbH.

Paper industry
Schwedt/Oder is one of the largest paper companies in Germany: LEIPA Werk Schwedt Nord.
