The cultural appeal of the City of Schwedt/Oder goes beyond regional borders. The most prominent example of a supra-regional cultural institution is the Uckermark Stages Schwedt with its own theatre company. Already under the margrave Frederic Henry, Schwedt had become well known in Germany as a theatre town. The annual open air spectacles in the palace gardens continue this theatre tradition. Young talents get their training in the music and arts school. In addition to that, a gallery, the museum, public libraries and more than 20 cultural groups and clubs characterize the cultural scene of Schwedt.
